Motorcyclist killed in crash on El Jobean Road in Charlotte County identified as Jacob Jones, 23, on Monday afternoon.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Jones was riding a 2019 Suzuki motorcycle when he collided with a Gator Utility Vehicle at approximately 2:41 p.m.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at the intersection of El Jobean Road (State Road 776) and Kerrigan Circle, leading to eastbound lane closures.
FHP stated that the motorcycle was in the right lane behind another vehicle when it attempted to switch to the left lane. The Gator Utility Vehicle was crossing the lanes at that moment.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Gator Utility Vehicle, a 65-year-old Port Charlotte man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The crash is under investigation, with FHP examining the motorcycle’s speed at the time of the incident.
