PRESCOTT, AZ (Local News Wire) — A Prescott man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly hitting a motorcycle rider and dragging him several hundred feet Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on State Route 89 near Peterson Lane, according to Prescott Police.
Police identified the suspect as 63-year-old Jeffrey Jones, who was driving south in a 2003 Ford F-150 when he collided with a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle ridden by a 25-year-old Prescott man.
Authorities said Jones was driving aggressively prior to the crash, reportedly veering into oncoming traffic before merging back and striking the motorcycle. The rider was dragged approximately 220 feet before separating from the bike.
Following the crash, Jones continued driving and eventually stopped in a neighborhood near Cathedral Pines and Escalante Drive. Responding officers reported he attempted to conceal alcohol containers before being taken into custody.
Investigators indicated that breath tests revealed Jones’ blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit, though specific results were not released.
Jones has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges including aggravated assault, aggravated DUI, felony hit-and-run, and endangerment.
The condition of the motorcyclist has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
