Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of 27-Year-Old Woman in Sauk Rapids Township
SAUK RAPIDS TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old woman died following a motorcycle accident on Saturday, May 16, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 12:35 p.m. to the intersection of Mayhew Lake Road NE and 10th St. NE, where a collision occurred between a motorcycle and a minivan. The woman, identified as Meghan Lee Moran, was unconscious and sustained significant injuries. First responders transported her to St. Cloud Hospital, where she later died.
The other vehicle involved, a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan, was driven by 60-year-old Keith Roman Gerding of St. Cloud. Authorities reported that he was not injured in the crash. Moran’s motorcycle was traveling southbound on Mayhew Lake Road NE, while Gerding’s van was westbound on 10th St. NE. Gerding stated he stopped at the stop sign on 10th St. NE before entering the intersection, which does not require a stop on Mayhew Lake Road.
Authorities confirmed there were no signs of impairment for either driver. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sauk Rapids Police Department, Sauk Rapids Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and Mayo Ambulance.
