MINOT, N.D. – A Minot man was sentenced to six years in prison for a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in April.
Harry Hughes, Jr., 43, received a 10-year sentence, with six years to be served in custody, according to court records.
Hughes changed his plea last month, admitting to criminal vehicular homicide.
Authorities said Hughes and a female passenger were riding when they collided with a downed lighted railroad crossing, resulting in both being thrown from the motorcycle.
The passenger, a 42-year-old woman, later died from her injuries.
Hughes will also serve three years of probation and pay over $9,000 in restitution, with credit for time served included in his sentence.
