HANNIBAL (WGEM) – Two individuals sustained serious injuries Friday evening after a motorcycle collided with a car on U.S. Highway 61.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the motorcycle, traveling south on U.S. 61, failed to yield at a traffic signal and struck a 2009 Mercury Milan at West Ely Road.
The male motorcycle driver, 19, and his passenger, 21, both from Hannibal, were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The 55-year-old woman driving the Mercury Milan, from Palmyra, Missouri, reported no injuries.
Emergency responders closed multiple lanes during the incident for investigation and cleanup; all lanes have since reopened.
