A woman was killed, and a man was injured late Saturday night in a motorcycle crash on Highway 24 in Chariton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on May 16, approximately three miles east of Keytesville, near the Chariton River bridge. Authorities reported that a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound when it ran off the roadway, ejecting both riders.
A 43-year-old woman from Keytesville was pronounced dead at the scene by Chariton County Deputy Coroner Lisa Benner at 12:19 a.m. on May 17. The 47-year-old driver from Brookfield was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of injuries.
The motorcycle was totaled and subsequently towed by Skins Auto Body of Salisbury. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Chariton County Sheriff’s Department, Chariton County Ambulance, Salisbury First Responders, and the Keytesville Fire Department.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
