Motorcycle riderfatality reported in Orangeburg County, SC crash, according to police.

One person was killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash on Bonner Avenue in Orangeburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. A 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling west when it veered off the left side of the road near Minerva Drive and overturned, said Master Trooper Hannah Davidson.

The rider, the sole occupant of the motorcycle, was transported to a local hospital where they later died, authorities confirmed. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not released the rider’s identity.

No additional injuries were reported from the incident. There was no information available regarding whether the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The cause of the motorcycle veering off the road is under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

As of June 7, at least 363 fatalities had been recorded on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the Department of Public Safety. In 2025, statewide collisions resulted in a minimum of 914 deaths.

So far this year, 15 people have died in crashes in Orangeburg County, and in 2025, 31 fatalities were reported in the area, according to state data.
