Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in U.S. 285 Collision with Semitruck

A 71-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a semitruck at approximately 2:25 p.m. on June 30 on U.S. 285 at mile marker 121, near Marshall Pass.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Hunter Mathews, the motorcyclist, from Palm Harbor, Florida, was ejected from the vehicle while attempting to make a left turn in front of the semitruck. The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious bodily injuries; their name has not been released.

Authorities reported that Colorado State Patrol, Chaffee County Fire, and Chaffee County EMS responded to the scene. By 2:41 p.m., northbound traffic was being alternated at mile marker 123, with both vehicles moved off the roadway.

No information regarding injuries or identification of the semitruck driver was available, as noted by Trooper Gabriel Moltrer. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
