Two Motorcyclists Injured in Separate Crashes in Wabasha County on Sunday.

Wabasha, MN — Two motorcyclists were injured in separate crashes in Wabasha County on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

The first crash occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 60 and Wabasha County Rd. 13, about 16 miles southwest of Wabasha. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a motorcycle traveling west collided with a pickup truck heading east.

The motorcyclist, identified as 68-year-old Robert Wayne Thompson of Mabel, was transported to a hospital in Lake City with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup, 64-year-old John Steven Kingsley of Zumbro Falls, and his passenger were not injured. Witnesses reported that Thompson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor.

Emergency response included the Lake City Fire Department, Wabasha Fire Department, Wabasha EMS, and the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office.

The second crash took place shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Hwy. 60, about seven miles southwest of Wabasha. State Patrol officials stated that 37-year-old Ryan Scott Fatturi of Minneapolis lost control of his motorcycle while traveling west and crashed. He was airlifted to a Mayo Clinic Hospital. The crash report confirms that Fatturi was wearing a helmet, and alcohol was not involved in the incident.

Responding agencies included the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office and Wabasha EMS. Both incidents remain under investigation.
