Father Dies in Motorcycle Accident During Memorial Ride for Slain Daughter
WASILLA, AK — Timothy Hoffman, 58, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday while participating in a memorial ride for his daughter, Cynthia, who was murdered in 2019.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Hoffman lost control of his motorcycle west of Wasilla and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His wife, Barbara “Jeanie” Hoffman, sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical care.
Cynthia Hoffman, 19, was killed in a murder-for-hire plot involving Denali Brehmer, who was previously a close friend. Prosecutors allege Brehmer conspired with an Indiana man, Darin Schilmiller, who had allegedly promised her $9 million to carry out the murder. Brehmer, along with four accomplices, took Cynthia to Thunderbird Falls and ultimately killed her.
Brehmer was sentenced to 99 years in prison earlier this year for her role in the crime, the maximum allowed under Alaska law. Schilmiller received a similar sentence for soliciting the murder.
Timothy Hoffman was known for being a strong advocate for his daughter throughout the legal proceedings related to her death. His brother, Robert Hoffman, noted that Timothy had sought closure and joined the memorial ride with Jeanie, who had followed previous rides from a distance.
Witnesses and prosecutors expressed their shock and sadness over Timothy’s sudden passing, underscoring his dedication to his family. The investigation into the motorcycle accident is ongoing.
