Timothy Hoffman Dies in Motorcycle Crash During Daughter’s Memorial Ride
WASILLA, AK — Timothy Hoffman, 58, died in a motorcycle crash on the Parks Highway during a memorial ride for his daughter, Cynthia, on Sunday.
According to Alaska State Troopers, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. near Mile 49, west of Wasilla. Hoffman lost control of his motorcycle, rolling into the center median. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Hoffman and his wife, Barbara “Jeanie” Hoffman, who was riding as a passenger, were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Timothy Hoffman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Jeanie Hoffman remains in critical condition and underwent surgery for severe injuries, including skull fractures and a broken back.
This memorial ride marked five years since the murder of their daughter, Cynthia, who was killed in 2019 in a scheme involving a catfishing plot that attracted national attention.
Timothy Hoffman was an active advocate for justice in his daughter’s case and often attended related court hearings, where he expressed the profound impact of her death on their family. Authorities confirmed all four individuals involved in her murder have since pleaded guilty and received lengthy sentences.
Witnesses reported that nearly 50 participants joined the memorial ride, which included stops where roses were tossed in tribute to Cynthia. The group was headed to Big Lake for a celebration when the crash occurred.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident, and the Parks Highway experienced temporary lane closures following the incident.
