One Killed in Vehicle-Motorcycle Crash on Byron Highway
BYRON, CA — A vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision on Byron Highway resulted in one fatality and one person injured on Friday morning.
According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Byron Highway and N. Bruns Road. Firefighters reported a vehicle with moderate damage at the scene.
One individual was pronounced dead on arrival, while another sustained moderate injuries. A medical helicopter was requested to airlift the injured party, with a landing zone set up at Byron Airport.
Authorities have closed southbound lanes on Byron Highway for an estimated 45 minutes as they investigate the crash.
