Wilmington Motorcycle Crash Leaves One Dead
WILMINGTON, DE – A motorcycle crash late Sunday night resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man, according to Delaware State Police.
The incident occurred on July 12, 2026, around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of eastbound Main Street and northbound Limestone Road. A Honda Passport and a Mazda CX-5 were stopped at a red light, preparing to turn, while a Kawasaki Ninja approached the intersection.
Authorities said the motorcycle operator, identified as Jose Vergara Guadarrama of Newark, failed to negotiate the turn and struck the traffic island curb. He was ejected from the motorcycle and slid under the Honda, with his helmet landing on the Mazda. Guadarrama was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on July 13, 2026.
The drivers of the Honda, a 38-year-old woman from Wilmington, and the Mazda, a 29-year-old man from Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, were not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. The incident remains under investigation by Delaware State Police.
