Strasburg Woman Dies in Motorcycle-Car Collision.

STRASBURG – A motorcyclist died in a two-vehicle crash on South Wooster Avenue Friday night.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 9:15 p.m., 38-year-old Nichole VanMeter from Strasburg was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 northwest when a 2014 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 24-year-old man from Akron, pulled out from Malcuit’s Tavern parking lot, attempting a left turn. The motorcycle overturned and collided with the vehicle.

VanMeter was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. The driver of the RAV4 sustained possible injuries, although specifics have not been confirmed.

Authorities reported that there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being factors in the crash. VanMeter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation and will present the report to the county prosecutor for potential charges.

Dover Hog Heaven, where VanMeter served as General Manager, released a statement on Facebook expressing their sorrow: “She poured all she had into making Dover Hog Heaven the place that it is. Please bear with us as we navigate through these incredibly difficult times.”

Further details regarding lane closures or road conditions during the investigation were not available immediately.
