WADSWORTH, Ill. (WLS) — A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in a collision on Route 173 on Friday afternoon, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene near Van Patton Woods Forest Preserve at approximately 1:10 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates a 38-year-old woman from Wisconsin was driving a Nissan Rogue eastbound when she turned left into the path of a westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 68-year-old Wadsworth man.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his bike, resulting in the severing of his left leg. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Nissan was unharmed and is cooperating with authorities.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is handling the investigation, with further details pending. No additional information about potential citations or charges has been disclosed at this time.
