COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A motorcycle passenger identified as 30-year-old Ashley Moore died following a crash on March 5 in Colorado Springs.
According to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, the accident occurred around 6 p.m. at the Highway 24 and 21st Street interchange.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Highway 24 when a pickup truck made a right turn from 21st Street. The motorcycle rear-ended the pickup, causing Moore and the rider to fall off.
Both were transported to a local hospital. Moore succumbed to her injuries on March 12; the condition of the motorcycle rider remains undisclosed. Authorities said impairment is not believed to be a factor, but speed has been noted as a contributing factor. No charges have been filed at this time.
This incident marks the eighth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, a notable increase from just one traffic death reported at this time last year, CSPD confirmed.
