Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Prison Guard on Cottman Avenue
A motorcycle accident on Cottman Avenue claimed the life of a prison guard this morning at approximately 6:45 a.m.
Devon Williams, 34, was traveling eastbound on the 4300 block of Cottman Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle, authorities said. Williams laid the bike down, which skidded into the westbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Emergency medical services rushed Williams to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 7:30 a.m.
Cottman Avenue was closed for several hours for investigation and the removal of the motorcycle. Multiple corrections officers who witnessed the accident attempted to provide assistance to Williams, police confirmed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
