SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. —
A motorcycle crash in Simpson County on Sunday night resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Prentiss woman.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. at Highway 13 and Mt. Zion Road. Alyssa E. Woods was riding south on Highway 13 when her motorcycle collided with a 2010 Chevrolet HHR traveling west on Mt. Zion Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured; however, a passenger was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Woods sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Master Sgt. Kervin Stewart confirmed that Woods was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the collision. This incident is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
