MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – A motorcycle crash on Highway 2 west of Minot killed two people on Thursday afternoon.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. approximately four miles west of Minot.
Officials reported that 62-year-old Vern Eckel was riding his motorcycle west with 64-year-old Pamela Eckel as a passenger when they collided with a sedan driven by 36-year-old Adam Trueblood, who was attempting to cross the highway from a frontage road.
Authorities confirmed that neither Vern nor Pamela were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. Pamela was pronounced dead at the scene, while Vern later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Investigators stated that Trueblood was wearing a seatbelt and did not sustain injuries.
Vern Eckel previously served as KMOT’s chief engineer and was a former firefighter for Burlington. Arrangements are pending for both individuals.
