FERNLEY, NV — A head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50 Alternate, about one mile south of Fernley High School, resulted in a fatality on Sunday.
Isis Aline Fetty, 19, of Silver Springs, was driving northbound in a 1988 Mercedes Benz with two passengers when her vehicle was struck by a southbound 2008 Saturn sedan, driven by 27-year-old Megan Constance Amirr of Fernley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP). Fetty was pronounced dead at the scene.
Passenger Allyson Marie F. Tansler, 40, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Central Lyon County ambulance. A 12-year-old girl in the Mercedes was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. All occupants of the Mercedes were wearing seatbelts.
Authorities reported that Amirr was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
U.S. Highway 50A was closed in both directions for several hours during the investigation. The NHP is looking into the possibility of a controlled substance as a factor in the accident, and charges are pending.
