Two Dead in I-74 Crash in Knox County
KNOX COUNTY, IL — A motorcycle and a vehicle collided on I-74, resulting in two fatalities Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2:41 p.m. on I-74 eastbound near Mile Marker 50. Authorities said a motorcycle and a sedan were involved in the incident. Emergency response teams from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and local fire services arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.
Both riders on the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the sedan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
According to authorities, both eastbound lanes of I-74 were closed for several hours while an investigation took place and debris was cleared. Lane closures were lifted around 5:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation, and no further details about the identities of the deceased have been released.
