Motorcyclist Killed in I-35 Crash with Semi in Des Moines
DES MOINES, IA — A motorcyclist died following a collision with a semi-truck on I-35 on October 2 at approximately 4:15 p.m.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred in the southbound lanes near mile marker 87. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old male, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
Emergency responders, including the Des Moines Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol, arrived shortly after the incident. The southbound lanes of I-35 were closed for over two hours while the scene was secured and the investigation commenced.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and no additional details about the crash have been released. Towing crews removed the vehicles from the roadway shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the lane closures are lifted.
