Motorcyclist Killed in Bureau County Crash Identified

BUREAU COUNTY, IL — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Illinois Route 29 on October 27 at approximately 2:41 p.m.

According to the Bureau County Coroner’s Office, 34-year-old Aaron Smith of Princeton was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that Smith was riding southbound when he lost control and collided with a pickup truck heading northbound.

Both the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police responded to the incident. Witnesses reported a severe impact, and emergency responders discovered Smith suffered fatal injuries. The pickup truck driver remained uninjured.

The roadway was closed in both directions for several hours while an investigation was conducted and the scene cleared. A tow was arranged for both the motorcycle and the pickup truck.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
