Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Alabama Man in Irasburg
IRASBURG, VT — A 24-year-old man died Saturday morning after his motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a tree on VT Route 58, according to the Vermont State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:31 a.m. near Houston Heights. Authorities identified the victim as Korban Rutherford from Hanceville, Alabama, who was riding a 2021 Yamaha YZ250X westbound when he swerved off the road and struck a tree.
Rutherford sustained serious injuries and was transported to North Country Hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving measures.
Witnesses reported that Rutherford swerved after observing a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD, driven by 28-year-old Cody Miller of Irasburg, enter VT Route 58 from Houston Heights while attempting to make a left turn. Preliminary investigations indicate that Miller’s vehicle briefly entered the eastbound lane but came to a complete stop before proceeding into the westbound lane, not encroaching into Rutherford’s path. Miller was uninjured in the incident.
