GONZALES, LA – A motorcycle crash claimed the life of Deputy Joshua Dunaway, 40, on LA 44 Friday evening around 9 p.m.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Dunaway was traveling north on a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle when he collided with the rear of a 2024 GMC Sierra. The GMC had just turned from Lee Drive onto LA 44. Dunaway sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed sorrow over Dunaway’s passing, describing him as a friend, teammate, and devoted father. “His loss is felt across our entire agency,” they stated, urging the community to keep his family in their thoughts.
At the time of the crash, Dunaway was off duty riding his personal motorcycle. The incident remains under investigation, and the sheriff’s office will provide information regarding funeral arrangements once finalized.
