Driver Sought After Crash Injures Dallas Motorcycle Officer
A motorcycle officer in Dallas was hospitalized following a crash on Monday morning, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident took place around 12:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Stemmons Freeway, close to Inwood Road. This caused the northbound lanes to be temporarily shut down.
Authorities report that an unknown vehicle struck the officer from behind, leading to the officer being thrown from his motorcycle. Emergency responders found the officer walking around at the scene, but he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Officials indicate that he is expected to recover.
Additionally, the officer’s motorcycle was involved in a subsequent collision with another vehicle after the initial crash.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux highlighted the dangers faced by officers during routine calls. He stated, “This crash serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly routine calls can turn dangerous for the men and women who serve our city.”
The driver who hit the officer did not stop at the scene and is currently wanted by police. No description of the vehicle has been released so far.
