MORRILL COUNTY, Neb. (KNOP) – A 56-year-old Bayard man died following a motorcycle crash on Highway 92 on Friday night.
According to the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 8:41 p.m. near mile marker 43, just west of the South Bayard Junction. Emergency responders arrived to aid the driver, identified as Daniel F. Waechter, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Waechter was traveling eastbound on Highway 92 when he struck a deer, resulting in him losing control of the motorcycle.
The Bayard Volunteer Fire Department and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the scene. No additional injuries were reported.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the roadway was temporarily closed following the incident.
