Bloomington Motorcyclist Dies in Crash Near Eureka.

A 42-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash with a pickup truck near Eureka on Tuesday morning.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood reported the man from Bloomington was pronounced dead at 9:12 a.m. He was in critical condition at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after the incident.

According to the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at State Route 117 and County Road 500N at 8:11 a.m. The crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck towing a trailer.

Initial investigations revealed that the truck was stopped to make a left turn while heading north on State Route 117. The motorcyclist, also traveling north, struck the rear of the truck and was ejected from the motorcycle.

The Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit is assisting the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. Further details will be provided as available.

Authorities indicated that State Route 117 was expected to reopen by noon on Tuesday.
