Charlie St. Clair, executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week, recuperates following an accident in Ohio.

Laconia Representative Injured in Motorcycle Accident en Route to Sturgis Rally

LACONIA, NH – Charlie St. Clair, a state representative and former mayor of Laconia, sustained severe injuries in a motorcycle accident on August 4 in Avon, Ohio.

Authorities report that St. Clair was riding on Interstate 90 when the accident occurred due to a tire malfunction. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported. Two nurses who witnessed the incident provided immediate assistance.

St. Clair is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The full extent of his injuries and long-term prognosis remain unclear, according to a statement from the Laconia Motorcycle Association.

St. Clair was making his 50th consecutive trip to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which is in its 86th year. Motorcycle Week Deputy Director Jenn Anderson, a close friend, flew to Cleveland to support him as he recovers.

“There’s a lot of assessment that is still to come due to swelling,” Anderson said. “It is extensive.”

The Laconia Motorcycle Association expressed gratitude to the Avon Police Department and emergency personnel for their swift response. The statement emphasized community support for St. Clair during this difficult time.

Mayor Mike Bordes also extended his thoughts and prayers for St. Clair, calling the accident a “devastating moment for our community.” More than 1,000 people have reacted to the association’s post, with over 300 comments and more than 200 shares.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available, the association stated.
