LACONIA, NH — Charlie St. Clair, executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week and former interim mayor, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 4.

Authorities confirmed St. Clair succumbed to his injuries on Aug. 22 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He suffered “catastrophic injuries” following a tire malfunction while en route to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

Witnesses reported that St. Clair was riding with a friend, approximately 20 feet behind him, at the time of the incident on Interstate 90 West in Avon, Ohio. No other vehicles were involved, but nearby nurses provided immediate aid after the crash.

The Laconia Motorcycle Week Association expressed gratitude toward the medical staff and the community for their support. “We are eternally grateful for the kindness, compassion, and care they showed Charlie,” the statement read.

St. Clair was a notable figure in the region, having been a state representative for seven years and leading the motorcycle rally since 1991. Tributes have poured in from local officials and community members, calling his passing a significant loss.

Rep. Mike Bordes described St. Clair’s impact on Laconia as lasting, stating, “His legacy will live on.” The Laconia Police Department labeled him a “pillar in our community” and a cherished presence during the Motorcycle Week.
