CALERA, Ala. — A hit-and-run on Interstate 65 resulted in the death of a 33-year-old man from Clanton on July 31.
The incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. near the 228 mile-marker, approximately one mile north of Calera in Shelby County. Devin M. Chapman was riding a 2007 Yamaha XV 1700 motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle struck him and fled the scene.
Chapman was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is conducting an active investigation. Authorities have yet to identify the vehicle or driver involved in the incident.
