Eastern Michigan football recruit killed in motorcycle crash near Franklin, Ohio
A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of 17-year-old Elijah Berman in Franklin, Ohio, on Tuesday evening.
Berman, a 2026 recruit for Eastern Michigan University, was riding a 2006 Suzuki DL1000 when he was struck by a semitruck at approximately 5:12 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The truck, driven by 41-year-old Anthony Allen of Roseville, Michigan, overturned after colliding with the motorcycle and hitting a raised median divider.
Berman was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Allen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment at the scene.
Authorities said the investigation into the crash is ongoing. Witnesses reported the scene was chaotic, with both vehicles significantly damaged.
Berman was a student at Julienne Catholic High School and a member of the football and track teams. Following the news of his passing, the Eastern Michigan football community expressed their condolences, noting his talent and bright personality.
