HANNIBAL, Mo. (June 5, 2023) — A man and woman were seriously injured in a motorcycle crash with a car at 7:40 p.m. Friday on US 61 at West Ely Road.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a 2026 CF Moto Motorcycle collided with a 2009 Mercury Milan when the motorcycle reportedly failed to yield to a traffic signal. The 19-year-old male rider and his 21-year-old female passenger, both of Hannibal, were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia.
The driver of the car, a 55-year-old woman from Palmyra, sustained no injuries in the incident. Both individuals on the motorcycle were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
The motorcycle was deemed totaled, while the Mercury Milan suffered extensive damage. The Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance, and Hannibal Fire Department responded to the scene.
The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
