Serious Motorcycle Crash in Covington Sends Two to Hospital
COVINGTON, NY — A motorcycle accident on Route 19 resulted in serious injuries for two individuals on September 7 at approximately 2:06 p.m.
According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, the collision involved a motorcycle and a car near the intersection with Silver Lake Road. Richard C. Blohm, 64, of Livonia, NY, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight. Brook K. DeVinney, 32, of Perry, NY, was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.
Both operators suffered serious physical injuries, and DeVinney has been issued traffic tickets for failure to keep right and operating an unregistered vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in Covington Town Court at a later date. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Moderate Damage Reported in Road Rage Incident on Route 238
ORANGEVILLE, NY — A road rage incident on Route 238 led to a two-car accident on September 7.
Authorities reported that both vehicles sustained moderate damage but no injuries were recorded. Melvin Lensenhuber, 70, of Castile, NY, was charged with failure to keep right and reckless driving. Steven Foisset, 27, of Attica, NY, also faces a charge of reckless driving. Both drivers will appear in Orangeville Town Court at a later date.
Motorcycle Accident in Sheldon Results in Injuries to Two Occupants
SHELDON, NY — A motorcycle accident on Route 20A on September 16 at approximately 4:10 p.m. caused injuries to two individuals, confirmed authorities.
First responders found that both the driver, Richard Carpenter, 64, of Varysburg, NY, and the passenger, Amy Carpenter, 50, of Attica, NY, had been ejected. Richard Carpenter was transported to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, while Amy Carpenter was airlifted by Mercy Flight with serious injuries.
Emergency response involved multiple fire departments and medical personnel. The investigation is ongoing.
Arrest for Alleged Forged Vaccination Certificates in Perry
PERRY, NY — Jessica A. Musall, 43, of Perry, NY, was arrested on September 10 for allegedly forging rabies vaccination certificates.
Authorities said the incident involved two separate occasions in 2024 and 2025. Musall is accused of forging a veterinarian’s signature for her dogs’ vaccinations. She faces charges of Forgery in the 2nd Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree.
Musall has been released on her own recognizance after arraignment and will appear in court later.
Welfare Fraud Charges in Wyoming County
WARSAW, NY — On September 10, Andrew Karcher, 27, and Cherokee Karcher, 27, both of Warsaw, were charged with Welfare Fraud and Offering a False Instrument for Filing.
The allegations state that the couple obtained SNAP benefits and cash assistance they were not entitled to from January to May 2025. They received appearance tickets for future court dates.
Separately, on the same day, Cherrie Summers, 49, of Warsaw, was arrested on similar charges related to benefits fraud spanning from July 2024 to September 2025.
Both cases are under the investigation of the Wyoming County Department of Social Services.
Traffic Violations Lead to Arrests in Wyoming County
SHELDON & JAVA, NY — Menachem Meretsky, 23, of State College, PA, was arrested on September 10 for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and speeding.
In Java, Robyn M. Hunter, 53, was arrested on September 12 for DWI and multiple traffic violations following a roadside assessment indicating impairment.
Both individuals have received appearance tickets for future court appearances.
Route 20A Traffic Stop Results in Arrest
SHELDON, NY — Tawfik Ahmed, 25, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested on September 12 at approximately 9:10 p.m. for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Sheldon Town Court on September 29.
