Motorcycle Accident on New River Road Leaves Rider Hospitalized

PHOENIX – A motorcycle accident on New River Road on January 2 has left a rider hospitalized with severe injuries, including a concussion and multiple fractures.

The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. along New River Road, between Carefree Highway and I-17, according to authorities. The rider, identified as 41-year-old Dustin Hayes, reportedly swerved to avoid an animal, causing him to crash and be thrown from his bike.

Emergency response teams arrived shortly after Hayes’ wife, Brooke, received an alert from a crash detection device in his helmet. She reached the scene, located her husband about 30 minutes later, and found him severely injured. Brooke Hayes expressed concern that he may not have been discovered without her intervention.

Dustin Hayes remains in a medically induced coma at a local hospital, suffering from severe injuries, including over 20 broken bones, along with neck and spine injuries, medical officials confirmed. His recovery is expected to be extensive.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident. Further updates on Hayes’ condition will be released as information becomes available.
