BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A motorcycle crash in Branford on Saturday evening resulted in the death of 37-year-old Zak McKeon.
The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when a motorist failed to yield the right of way, according to authorities. McKeon was a probationary member of the Quaker Farms Fire Company, having been voted in just last month.
McKeon was traveling home from his job as a baker at Hen and Heifer at the time of the incident. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Quaker Farms Fire Company released a statement mourning McKeon, who they described as eager to learn and an asset to the team. “He was extremely excited and very active in this short time with us,” they said.
McKeon is survived by his wife, Daniella. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral expenses.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with lane closures reported in the area. No additional injuries were reported.
