RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 58-year-old man was charged Tuesday in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle near Outdoor Adventures.
Michael Tattersfield faces a felony charge for failure to stop at an accident resulting in death and a misdemeanor for a moving violation causing death. Authorities reported the crash occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. on June 13 when Tattersfield exited a driveway onto Richfield Road, colliding with 49-year-old Stephanie Thomas, who was riding a motorcycle ahead of her husband.
Thomas suffered severe injuries and was transported to Hurley Medical Center, where she succumbed hours later. The Richfield Township Police Department stated that Tattersfield fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officials identified Tattersfield as a suspect on June 14 and arrested him shortly thereafter. The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office approved charges earlier this month, leading to Tattersfield’s arraignment on Tuesday. Court records did not specify his custody status or bond details post-arraignment.
