One injured, one arrested in motorcycle crash in Portsmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. on October 4, Portsmouth Police responded to a serious motorcycle collision at the intersection of West Main Road (Route 114) and Stringham Road.
The motorcycle operator suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Lesslie McDowell of Johnston. The crash occurred as the motorcycle was making a left turn onto West Main Road, heading north from Stringham Road, when it was hit by McDowell’s southbound vehicle.
Authorities arrested McDowell on suspicion of DUI. The motorcycle operator was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by the Portsmouth Fire Department.
The Portsmouth Police Department’s Detective Division and Accident Reconstruction Team are on-site to investigate the incident. The case remains under ongoing investigation.
