Driver Charged in Fatal West Meck Motorcycle Crash That Killed Two.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — A crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV near the Charlotte city limit left two dead Saturday night, according to authorities.

The victims were identified as motorcyclist Rodney Ewing Quinn, 36, and passenger Dana Asbill Osborne, 63. The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Moores Chapel Road near Sam Wilson Road.

Authorities said the incident involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Honda Pilot driven by 36-year-old Jose Salas Tzompaxtle. Preliminary investigations indicate Tzompaxtle was making a left turn out of a driveway onto Moores Chapel when he allegedly failed to yield to Quinn and Osborne. Quinn attempted to stop but collided with the Honda, causing both riders to be ejected onto the roadway.

Emergency responders reported that Tzompaxtle appeared impaired when officers arrived. He was arrested and charged with two counts of felony death by vehicle and cited for driving without a license.

Moores Chapel Road was fully closed during the investigation, which is still ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department at 704-334-1600 or reach out to Charlotte Crime Stoppers.
