Elijah Berman, a 17-year-old Eastern Michigan football commit, died in a motorcycle accident in Franklin, Ohio, on June 24.
A motorcycle collided with a semitruck around 5:12 p.m. on a roadway in Franklin, according to authorities. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
Berman, a defensive lineman from Dayton, had committed to Eastern Michigan on June 16. Chaminade Julienne High School principal Greg Mueller confirmed the details of Berman’s death in an email.
Response units included emergency medical services; however, details regarding injuries to others involved have not been released. The roadway is expected to experience lane closures as the investigation continues.
In his email, Mueller described Berman as a remarkable student and athlete: “Eli was an all-around Eagle — a member of the football and track teams, had recently accepted an offer to play college football at Eastern Michigan University, and was a strong student with a big personality.”
