YATES TOWNSHIP — Two Evart residents died Sunday evening in a motorcycle-SUV collision on US-10 near Forman Road, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to the scene at 6:40 p.m. and found a witness performing CPR on the 53-year-old male motorcycle operator and a 54-year-old female passenger. Despite resuscitation efforts by deputies, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling east on US-10 when a westbound SUV entered its path while turning into a private driveway. The SUV driver, a 54-year-old man from Chase, did not sustain major injuries.
The incident remains under investigation. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Michigan State Police, Yates Fire Department, Webber Fire Department, Life EMS, West Michigan Medical Examiners Group, and U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement.
