Perry Township Crash Claims One Life, Injures Another
PERRY TOWNSHIP, OH — A two-vehicle accident on State Route 173 resulted in one fatality and serious injuries on Tuesday, April 14, at 2:40 p.m.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 78-year-old Shirley Rill of Salem crossed the center line and collided with a 2013 Nissan Rogue operated by 35-year-old Chelsea Miller of Lisbon. Miller was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Rill was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Authorities confirmed both lanes of State Route 173 were temporarily closed during emergency response but have since reopened. The OSHP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Emergency crews from the Perry Township Police Department, Columbiana County Coroner’s Office, Perry Township Fire Department and EMS, Damascus Fire Department and EMS, Salem Fire and EMS, and EMT Ambulance all responded to the incident.
