One man is dead and another is in stable condition following a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Michigan Road.
At 12:45 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to the 6200 block of Michigan Road. Officers discovered both vehicles ablaze, with a man on the motorcycle pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death and will release the victim’s identity once next of kin have been notified.
The SUV driver was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Authorities stated the driver is cooperating with the investigation, and intoxication is not considered a factor, although a standard blood test will be conducted.
Preliminary investigations indicate the motorcycle was traveling northbound when it collided with the SUV, which was turning southbound.
IMPD urges drivers to avoid the area around West 64th Street and Michigan Road in Indianapolis, as traffic will be delayed between 62nd Street and 65th Street for several hours while evidence is gathered.
