Friends and residents honor Georgia mayor who tragically died in a motocross accident.

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — Perry Bell, mayor of White, Ga., died in a motorcycle accident during an event at Lazy River Motocross on Saturday morning.

According to interim Mayor Gary Crisp, Bell’s motorcycle collided with another during a stunt, resulting in fatal injuries.

Emergency medical services transported Bell via helicopter to a trauma center, but he did not survive, Crisp confirmed.

Crisp described the incident as a “freak accident” and noted the close-knit community is deeply affected by Bell’s death.

Residents remembered Bell fondly, highlighting his dedication to the community and love for outdoor activities.

Bell served as mayor for just over two months after being sworn in June. Authorities indicated a special election will likely be held to fill the vacancy.
