Bridgeport man injured, passenger in critical condition after motorcycle crash on Merritt Parkway
A motorcycle crash on the Merritt Parkway left one man injured and another in critical condition Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4:26 p.m. in the southbound lanes, south of exit 58A. Delgado Gerard Miguel Navarro, 38, of Bridgeport, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle with passenger Carlos Diaz-Reyes, 50, of Hartford, when a tire failure caused the vehicle to fall on its left side, according to State Police.
Navarro sustained minor injuries, while Diaz-Reyes suffered serious life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.
The crash prompted the closure of southbound exits between 58A and 53 for nearly four hours, reopening shortly after 8 p.m., per the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
