GREENSBORO, NC — Kelvin Level Broadhurst Jr., a 20-year-old junior defensive lineman at North Carolina A&T, died in a motorcycle crash on I-40 East Saturday afternoon.
According to the Greensboro Police Department, Broadhurst was traveling on I-40 East when he lost control while transitioning to the US 29 South ramp around 2:41 p.m. His motorcycle struck a guardrail and veered off-road, resulting in him being ejected from the bike.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Broadhurst was pronounced dead at the scene. The department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident, and authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved.
Broadhurst had played 28 games for the Aggies, recording 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He had a notable high school career at Dorman High School in South Carolina, finishing his senior season with 43 tackles.
His passing has deeply affected the North Carolina A&T community, as teammates and coaches mourn the loss of a promising young athlete. Broadhurst was expected to take on a larger leadership role under second-year head coach Shawn Gibbs in the upcoming season.
