A fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a dump truck occurred early Monday in Arlington Heights, closing IL 53 during the morning rush hour.
The crash took place around 1:30 a.m. on IL 53 northbound near Rand Road, according to the Illinois State Police. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene; no additional injuries have been reported.
As of 6 a.m., all north and southbound lanes on Route 53 between Palatine and Dundee Roads were closed and traffic was being redirected to exit ramps. Roads reopened at approximately 6:25 a.m.
In a separate incident, a vehicle overturned on Route 60 near Kessler Avenue in Libertyville, further impacting traffic.
Authorities are investigating both incidents.
