Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of 22-Year-Old in Des Moines
Des Moines, IA — Jordan James “JJ” Wilson, 22, died in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Highway 65. It involved a single motorcycle, which left the roadway and collided with a barrier. Emergency responders from the Des Moines Fire Department were dispatched to the scene but pronounced Wilson deceased upon arrival.
Details regarding injuries were confirmed, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Witnesses reported that speed may have been a factor, but this has not been verified.
Wilson, a graduate of Southeast Polk High School, was deeply involved in his community and faith groups. He was known for his dedication as a counselor at various camps and served in leadership roles at Chi Alpha and local churches.
Funeral services will be held at Berean Church, 5299 E University Avenue, Pleasant Hill, IA, with visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Chi Alpha ISU or another faith-based organization.
