Kennedy Reed, 26, remembered after fatal crash in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS — Kennedy Reed, a 26-year-old graduate student, was killed in a crash at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Euclid Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Authorities confirmed that Reed, a Mississippi native, was involved in a single-vehicle accident at approximately 7:45 p.m. Emergency responders from the St. Louis Fire Department arrived at the scene but were unable to revive her. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.
Witnesses indicated that community members provided help and support to Reed before emergency crews arrived. Details regarding the cause of the crash remain unclear, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
Reed’s family described her as their only child and best friend, sharing that she was a dedicated scholar. She graduated magna cum laude from Alcorn State University with a degree in biochemistry and was beginning her doctoral studies at Washington University in St. Louis in molecular microbiology and microbial pathogenesis in August 2023.
Additionally, Reed was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, recognized for her commitment to scholarship and service.
She was engaged and set to marry next year. Her fiancé reflected on their planned life together, stating, “We almost made it. We were almost there.”
The family requests that Reed be remembered for her achievements and the impact she had on many lives rather than the circumstances of her passing.
