LaOtto Man Dies in Car-Motorcycle Collision.

WATERLOO — A LaOtto man died following a two-vehicle crash at U.S. 6 and Interstate 69 on Friday morning.

John T. Conley, 38, was involved in the collision shortly after 10 a.m. and was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he later died from his injuries, authorities said.

Conley was riding a 1985 Harley-Davidson FXEF motorcycle east on U.S. 6 when his motorcycle struck the passenger side of a 2010 Dodge Caliber driven by Della R. Huffman, 77, of Waterloo. Officials reported that Huffman was turning left to head south on I-69 at the time of the incident.

Huffman complained of chest pain but refused medical treatment on the scene, according to police. The collision resulted in Conley being ejected from his motorcycle.

A reconstructionist from the Indiana State Police is examining both vehicles to assess speeds during the crash.

Emergency response included the Waterloo and Butler fire departments, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Auburn Police, Parkview EMS, the Parkview Samaritan helicopter, and DeKalb County Central Communications. Lane closures were implemented as the investigation proceeded.
